The news coming out of Sacramento, California, indicates that one person has been killed in an accident along Highway 160. The crash was between a motorcycle and a pickup truck. According to the California Highway Patrol, the wreck happened in the southbound lanes, and it took place near Northgate Boulevard.

Video from the scene shows that the accident occurred near a turn where the speed limit dropped to 45 mph. It was also near a narrow bridge. It has not been stated if either of those things contributed to the wreck, but the video does show the pickup in the ditch on the near side of the curve, with wreckage all over the road behind it.

Early reports indicate that the pickup truck was driving in the wrong direction when it slammed into the motorcycle. The man who was driving the pickup truck is 86 years old. The emergency crews said that he did not suffer any injuries as a result of the collision.

A SigAlert was put out by the California Highway Patrol following the accident. They said that all of the lanes had been blocked off for the time being.

The family of anyone who has been killed in a fatal motorcycle crash should know what legal options they have by meeting with an experienced motorcycle collision attorney. Even though the person has passed away, they could be facing medical bills, and they may have a right to other compensation from the driver who actually caused the accident, such as compensation for the wages that the family will lose in the future or the emotional trauma that they have suffered.
