Many Americans enjoy a hot Spam sandwich now and again, but a recent recall has caused the Spam lovers of American a cause for concern. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced that it was instituting the recall of over 228,000 pounds of Spam along with another product manufactured by Hormel, the maker of Spam.

As terrifying as it sounds, consumers have been complaining about finding metal objects in their cans of Spam. These consumers, unfortunately, found the metal in their mouths while eating Spam and some of them reported having suffered minor oral injuries. There’s no telling how much of this metal was ingested by consumers.

Fortunately, no serious injuries or deaths have been reported thus far. However, as a safety precaution, the USDA has instituted the current recall. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service claims that certain canned pork and chicken products contain metal byproducts. These items were manufactured at Hormel’s Fremont, Nebraska, food plant. If you own 12-ounce cans of “SPAM Classic” with listed “Best By” dates of February 2021, it is recommended that you return the products to the place where you purchased them immediately, and by all means, do not eat them.

If you were injured by a defective product or defective Spam, or if you suffered injuries because of any other kind of manufactured food product, you might have incurred expensive medical bills while seeking treatment. As such, it could be to your advantage to investigate your legal rights and options regarding the liability of the manufacturer that produced the food product that harmed you.
