Automaker recalls hundreds of thousands of vehicles

The automaker Ford, recently announced that it will expand it's already massive recall of vehicles related to defective Takata Airbags. The recall will expand the issue to approximately 365,000 more Ford-built cars and trucks, including Lincoln, Mercury and Ford models from the years 2009 to 2013. Fortunately, at this time, no injuries or deaths have been reported in connection with these potentially dangerous vehicles.

As most readers of this blog know by now, millions of vehicles made by various manufacturers have been recalled around the world because of Takata-made airbags which are at risk of exploding within the compartments of vehicles, sending hot metal shrapnel into victims riding inside the cars. Instances have caused numerous deaths throughout the world, and in order to curb more catastrophes automakers have done their best to recall and fix affected vehicles.

In this most recent recall -- which relates to front, passenger-side airbag inflators -- for has recalled a number of 2009 to 2010 and 2013 Mustangs, 2009 to 2010 Fusions, 2009 to 2010 Rangers, 2009 to 2010 Edges, 2009 to 2010 Lincoln MKZs and MKXx and 2009 to 20010 Milans.

It certainly fortunate that no further injuries or deaths have been attributed to the above-referenced vehicles, and that Ford has acted swiftly to prevent such calamities from occurring. However, just because there haven't been any reports does not mean that no accidents or injuries have actually occurred. If you suspect that you or a loved one has suffered injuries caused by a defective Takata Airbag -- no matter the make or model of the car -- you may want to determine whether a viable claim to pursue financial damages may exist.
