4 die, 2 injured in fiery car accident in California
Family members in California are grieving following an accident that left four individuals dead and two others with serious injuries. Police said the car accident happened just past 1 a.m. Authorities said the fiery crash was a head-on collision involving two cars.
The accident started when a man, said to be 26, was reportedly driving a vehicle north on a street. All of a sudden, another car heading south breached the center line and ended up hitting the man’s vehicle head-on. The man suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital, where his condition was deemed serious.
The car that allegedly went over the center line caught fire. Five people were in that vehicle, and three of the individuals died of burns. A fourth person also passed away at the accident scene, while the fifth one was transported to the hospital, where her condition was deemed critical. Officials said speed appears to have been a causal factor in the collision.
The injured passenger of the car that breached the center line may choose to file a personal injury claim, while the family of the dead passengers in this car may also decide to file wrongful death claims in connection with this accident. Likewise, the man driving the car that was reportedly hit head-on may opt to file a personal injury suit, seeking the reimbursement of damages sustained in the car accident. Even if the driver who police said went over the road’s middle line ended up dying in the crash, that person’s estate may be sued; in addition, all separate owners of the vehicle he or she was driving may face litigation. A preponderance of the evidence that this driver caused the accident due to negligent behavior, such as speeding, is needed in order for liability to be established in a California civil court.
