Elderly woman dies in California car accident

One woman unfortunately lost her life in a tragic crash in California. The accident happened on a Sunday morning after midnight. It's understandable for the family members whom the woman left behind to question the cause of the car accident and seek immediate answers.

The accident happened when a black car was heading west on a street, police said. It suddenly rear-ended another car. The driver of the second car lost control of the vehicle and collided with a couple of oncoming automobiles, police reported.

The second car was carrying two people at the time of the crash. The collision's impact led to the death of the female passenger -- an elderly woman -- in this car at the crash scene. A minimum of three other people suffered moderate or major injuries and were taken to the hospital. Police continued to investigate the crash, with police questioning the motorist of the first car for potentially driving while intoxicated.

The family members of the elderly woman may choose to file a wrongful death claim against the driver believed to have caused the tragic accident. Competent proof of negligence is necessary to establish liability in this type of car accident case. Only when liability has been established in a way that satisfies the civil court hearing the case, will a judge decide the plaintiff's claims for financial damages. A financial award in a successful case may help the deceased woman's surviving family members to cover her burial costs and other end-of-life expenses stemming from the California car accident.
