Investigators are still looking into the deadly chain-reaction semi-truck crash that occurred along the 60 Freeway just recently. Some of our Placer County readers may have heard about the crash that injured at least 13 people and killed a 5-year-old girl. And depending on what investigators find out about the crash, it’s possible that the accident victims may be entitled to compensation.
What investigators from the California Highway Patrol do know at this time is that the crash happened a little before 6 a.m. when a tanker truck carrying milk rear ended several vehicles that had slowed for traffic in the eastbound lanes. After colliding with the vehicles, the tanker truck then veered into the center median where it overturned and came to a rest on top of the of the center divider.
The difficult part now will be determining why the truck driver failed to slow down along with the other traffic. Had the truck driver been distracted just prior to the fatal accident? Was impaired driving a factor? Could a mechanical failure have been to blame?
Getting answers to questions like this will be important because it will help determine if negligence was a factor which, as many of you know, can be grounds for a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit. Although it’s unknown if the accident victims and their families intend on taking legal action or not, it’s worth noting that they may be entitled to compensation from the at-fault driver. Unfortunately, without a completed investigation, it’s difficult to say at this time who is at-fault for the crash.
