People often are focused on their daily agendas — picking up the kids from school, grabbing a carton of milk from the grocery store or making a deposit at the bank — so that they don’t likely entertain the thought of a sudden car accident injuring them or taking their lives. A car accident can happen suddenly, and when a fatality occurs, family members who are left behind are left in shock. It is normal for them to struggle with a combination of frustration and anger in such a situation in California.

A four-vehicle wreck that recently occurred on the Pacific Coast Highway claimed one life. The event took place when a driver was headed north on the highway in the afternoon. The driver suddenly collided with another automobile. The vehicle then crossed into the southbound lanes and struck more vehicles.

A passenger in the first car perished in the collision. Meanwhile, the driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital. Four other people also were transported to the hospital after sustaining injuries in the crash. Police continued to investigate the cause of the collision.

The driver of the first car might experience legal issues if the injured parties decide to file personal injury claims for monetary damages to recoup the financial losses tied to the car accident. The family of the deceased passenger also might elect to file a wrongful death suit against the driver. If the evidence suggests that the driver was violating a rule of the road or specific traffic law, such as speeding, this information could be used as evidence of negligent or even reckless behavior. If liability is established to the satisfaction of a California civil court, it will consider any monetary damage claims.
