Car accident leads to death of 1, injuries to 3 in California

Crashing into an object such as a guardrail or guard barrier may easily lead to debilitating injuries or death because of the sudden impact associated with it. The sudden halt of a forward-moving vehicle can cause massive destruction. Discovering that a family member in California has died in a car accident of this nature can cause grief and anger. It is within the surviving family members' rights to seek reimbursement for financial damages stemming from the catastrophic situation.

A graduate student in California recently died following a single-vehicle crash. The accident happened on Highway 1 when another student was driving the car. The vehicle suddenly collided with a guardrail, according to police.

The 23-year-old graduate student died at the scene of the accident, authorities said. Meanwhile, the driver and two other passengers suffered injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment of their fractures. The driver, who had failed to drive along a curve correctly when the accident took place, was arrested on drunken driving charges. Police said he was driving too quickly.

The driver will have to face his drunken driving charges in light of the fatal car accident. He also may face legal challenges in the form of a wrongful death suit, which the family members of the passenger who died have the right to file against the driver in pursuit of monetary damages, such as funeral costs and end-of-life expenses. The injured passengers can also file personal injury lawsuits. A drunken driving criminal conviction specifically might help to establish the driver's liability in a California civil court.
