7 injured in fiery California car accident

A sudden crash can change a person's life in an instant by leading to injuries that can affect his or her ability to function normally. In some cases, a car accident occurs as a result of the negligence of a driver. One multiple-vehicle accident in California recently resulted in injuries to multiple individuals.

The fiery accident happened on a roadway known for its twists and curves. It took place shortly after 4 a.m. on a recent Sunday in mid-January. Five automobiles were involved in the collision on westbound California 60.

Seven individuals ended up being hurt in the crash. Two of them suffered injuries deemed to be serious. Meanwhile, two others suffered moderate-level injuries, and three victims suffered minor injuries. A total of 15 firefighters and seven ambulances were dispatched to the accident scene. Police continue to investigate what caused the crash.

The collision's cause may become known as a result of a thorough police investigation. If a driver is found to have caused or contributed to the car accident by acting in a negligent manner -- such as driving while distracted, exceeding the speed limit or failing to obey another traffic law -- this person may be held liable for the other crash victims' injuries. The injured parties may choose to file personal injury claims, seeking financial damages that may help them to pay for their medical costs, as well as cover the loss of wages, if appropriate. Competent proof of negligence is needed to establish liability in a way that a California civil court will find satisfactory.
