3 lose lives in California car accident

Three individuals were killed in a tragic California crash recently. The head-on collision occurred on a Saturday morning. The car accident took place near Sacramento on Interstate 80.

Police reported that a 20-year-old man was driving a car. An 18-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man rode in the vehicle with him. The car was eastbound on the interstate shortly after 2 a.m.

All of a sudden, the car was hit by a vehicle driven by a 24-year-old man. The driver of the second vehicle was going west in the lanes heading east, though the speed was not reported. The second vehicle's driver suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, all three individuals in the first car died in the crash. According to police, the wrong way driver was intoxicated; authorities continued to investigate the collision.

The family members of the three deceased victims may decide to file wrongful death claims against the person driving the second vehicle. If the driver is charged with driving while intoxicated and ends up being convicted, evidence of this conviction may be used to try to prove his financial responsibility for the accident-related deaths in civil court. The plaintiffs have the right to seek the reimbursement of financial damages sustained due to the fatal car accident, which can help them to pay for the victims' burial costs and other losses tied to the accident. A California court will determine the plaintiffs' monetary damage claims if liability is established to the court's satisfaction.
